Hail Wanderers!
I hope you are having a fantastic start to 2020 and that you and your loved ones are happy and healthy. Now on to the update!
The update is: There isn't much to report - it's head's down getting work done here at AHP HQ! We're still on track for getting A Wanderer's Guide to Limbos and Mirages printed in the second quarter of this year. Writing is progressing and art is coming in. To give you a taste for the art we'll have in the book, take a look at the amazing art Claudia made for a limbo written by Alan Bahr.
When I finally decided to do the book in black & white I knew I had to get Claudia working on the limbo art, because she has such an amazing grasp of using black & white to create drama in a piece.
As we have more news I will keep you updated, but since we're still in the draft phase of the book there isn't much to report until it goes into edits with Monte!

Make/100 - Indie Game Anthology
For those of you who didn't know I have a Patreon with Steffie de Vaan, who is one of the authors of Afterlife. Last year we challenged ourselves to make 12 indie rpgs in 12 months and release them - we succeeded! The games range from a colouring-based game about unicorns, to a game about magical monster hunters, to a fantasy map-drawing game, and much more! To celebrate this Steffie and I are currently running a Kickstarter campaign to print all the completed games into an anthology. I am happy to report the anthology is already funded and we're moving onto stretch goals. If this sounds like something you'd be into, you can check out the campaign HERE.

Happy November, I hope you are all doing well! I thought I'd check-in to let you know how everything is going with our project before the winter-festivities for some of us get into full swing.
Surveys
If you haven't filled out your survey yet and want your pledge before the December gift-giving ensues - please make sure to fill out your survey before the end of this month! AHP is sending out any newly-completed survey pledges at the start of December.
Limbo Stretch Goals
All limbo Stretch Goal writing is done save one limbo due to an author not being able to complete the project. The text has been edited by Carol and is now with me for final changes and layout. My aim is to have the limbos out to backers by end of January!
A Wanderer's Guide to Limbos & Mirages
(Yes, we've changed the name from Mirages & Limbos to Limbos & Mirages, because it rolls off the tongue easier.)
Development on the Wanderer's Guide is in full swing! Some things we plan to include in the Guide:
New Mechanics for: vehicles in the Tenebris, Wanderer's homes, and Mirage fortification
11 new limbos!
More in-depth information on each species of Tenebris inhabitant
5 new mirages and in-depth information on mirage culture
Project S aka top-secret topic you'll have to wait and see
Is there anything you desperately want to see in the Guide? Let me know in the comments and I will see what we can work in!
As for art we're welcoming three new artists to the team: Ines Borba, Claudia Cagini, and Henriette Bodt. They'll be creating the amazing black and white illustrations in the book. I'll share more information about these talented artists and progress pictures of their work in later updates.

Packages & PDFs sent!

If you've been lurking in the comments section you may have seen mention of cookies... and cookies is a code word for your pledges! Last week everyone here at AHP HQ was busy packing up books, dice, and many more lovely things for you and then sending all the packages out.
Backerkit
If you haven't filled out Backerkit yet, then we haven't sent out your pledge - because there is still information we need from you or payment for shipping we need. All pledges from 7 September and before were sent out. Our plan is to now collect all new Backerkit information monthly and send out once at the end of each month until all the pledges are fulfilled. So please make sure you fill in Backerkit if you haven't already!
If you also pledged for the Wanderer's Guide with bundled shipping - as you know - we are holding your order until the Guide is done next year, but thanks for filling out Backerkit :D. We know the addresses are now technically 'locked', but we will make sure to check in with all of you before sending to make sure your address is correct :).
PDFs
Everyone whose pledge included a PDF of the core book and who filled out Backerkit should have a PDF code for DriveThruRPG.com in their inbox! If you don't send me a PM and I will get you sorted out (please check your spam first). If you have a moment, please leave us a review on DTRPG, it really helps with PDF sales if people can see what others liked about our game. As backers you are probably the best people to tell the world about Afterlife, so we appreciate any help you could offer <3.
Packing Process
Now onto picturesssss. Before we could start packing everything up, we were waiting for were these beauties:
I am super happy with how the dice came out and the custom die face as well. The dice face is actually from a skull stamp I made and then vectorized through Adobe Illustrator. For fans of WITCH: Fated Souls - you may even recognize this skull in the book :).
Once the dice came in, it was time to start packing! Here is a very small picture of the packing chaos:
Over the years I've tried many methods of sending books, but my favourite for hardcover books has to be these special carton book packages. They wrap around the book and have a small cardboard margin at the top and bottom so that if the package drops the cardboard gets smashed instead of your book. So of course that is what I chose to use for Afterlife!
I've seen pictures from backers in the Netherlands with their pledges already and expect EU backers to be receiving their parcels soon. US and beyond backers can take up to three weeks, so please be patient with your pledge - and of course - please let us know when you get it! Either via social media or in the comments here, we'd love to know if you got your books.
Next Steps
After sending out the majority of the pledges it is time to look towards the future of this project! Here's our Afterlife planning for the coming months:

November 2019 - Send Limbo stretch goals to backers
February 2020 - End development of Wanderer's Guide
June 2020 - Send out Wanderer's Guide to backers
This is a loose planning as of now. A few things may come earlier, but as with this campaign I wanted to make sure there is enough of a time buffer in our planning so that we send things out (roughly) on time and don't disappoint anyone.

If you filled out your survey you should have gotten a Backerkit Lock reminder email! We are so close to shipping! If you haven't filled out your survey, make sure you do it soon, otherwise you'll be getting your Afterlife pledge later than everyone and that is a bummer.

We're waiting for the dice and packaging to come in and then we will start shipping.
After Backerkit orders lock, we'll get the PDF on DTRPG and send out the PDF links to everyone who pledged for a PDF.
We hope to have all shipping done by the first two weeks of September!
Next KS update will likely be during or after the shipping process. I will have a bunch more photos and you can see the awesome chaos that is shipping out hundreds of pledges :D.

If you want to be surprised by the book and everything that goes with it - do not proceed with reading! If you are ready to look at everything we are sending out - keep reading! The only thing not pictured in the photos below are the dice, which are in transit at the moment. When I have them I'll take a picture for a future update so you can see them in their full glory.
Here is everything all together! If we start clockwise from the far left we have - The Afterlife: Wandering Souls core book, the free art print for all physical backers (stretch goal), the 3 quick references, and the Wanderer's Tome!
Here's a picture of the inside of the book. You'll notice a sheen on the page, that is from the page coating we added to the book. It's the same coating that's on the standard 8.5 x 11 inch rpg books (like the D&D Player's Guide etc.) I personally prefer smaller RPG books as a reader and GM - they're easier to use, reference, and carry around, which is why we choose to make Afterlife A5 size. However, I didn't want to compromise the inside quality of the book, which is why we chose to coat the pages and make it full colour to ensure our book's quality stood up to the larger ones.

I wanted to post a close-up of the quick references, because I am so happy with how they turned out. The GM reference was the stretch goal you all unlocked through your generous pledges. I love the vibrancy of the background colours.
